Paris has a great variety of accommodation to choose from. You´ll find hotels with the most luxury qualities and cheap, modest hotels, which offer only the basic services.
Let´s take a look at what you can expect when booking a hotel in Paris.

Follow the stars and know what you get when you book

France has a governmental hotel rating system. Officials evaluate and rate hotels on a scale of 1 to 5 stars. What some tourists might not realize, the star-scale does not measure quality of the hotel using obvious criteria such as friendliness of the staff, cleanliness, speed of service, quality of the interior design etc. The French rating system basically indicates that the hotel has or does not have certain features.

Basically the rating system means that you can find a nice, clean and stylish 2-star hotel with super friendly staff or old and battered 3-star hotel.

From our experience we can say that a 2-star hotel is often the best bet for average tourists who book their rooms on their own.
2-star hotels are affordable and you´ll get a comfortable bed, a shower or bathtub and a television in your room. Brakfast won´t be included in the price, but is served every morning for some extra euros. We have visited many hotels with a 2-star rating and can safely say that you´ll find many comfortable, safe, friendly and truly French (no international chains in this class) hotels.

Between the truly local 1 or 2-star hotels and real luxury accommodation you´ll find the standardized, predictable and still rather affordable well-known hotel chains such as Best Western, Holiday Inn and Ibis.

When quality matters, Paris won´t leave you cold

Paris attracts tourists, travelers and people from all walks of life and every corner of the earth. Demand for real luxury exists and keeps many famous top-notch, internationally well-known luxury hotels in business. When the price is not an issue, Paris won´t leave you cold either. The city has many truly famous hotels in the highest luxury class.

List of Parisian high-end, expensive and truly luxurious hotels indlude established places such as Hotel de Crillon, Ritz, the Grand Hotel, Hotel du Louvre,Inter-Continental Paris, Hotel Meurice, Hotel Lutétia, Hotel Du Jeu de Paume,Hotel Méridien Montparnasse,Holiday Inn Paris,Pavillon de la Reine, Astor Westin Demeure, George V,Marignan-Élysées Westin Demeure, Hotel Méridien Étoile, Le Plaza Athénee, etc… Wow, what a list!

Just book in advance

What ever is your star-rating or price-range, what we can recommend everyone to do is to book early. Paris is a worldwide top destination and attracts constant flow of tourists, businessmen and other travelers all year around – so it´s not always easy to find a room, at least in your preferred neighborhood or price range.
